A Legacy of Excellence

The Musik-Akademie Basel's journey began in 1867 when the 'Allgemeine Musikschule Basel' was established by the GGG. Over the years, we've evolved and expanded, culminating in the creation of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis by Paul Sacher in 1933. In 1954, these three institutions merged to form the Musik-Akademie Basel. By the end of the 20th century, we gained international acclaim for preserving and reviving forgotten music genres. Today, our higher education section is a part of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW).

In addition to four top-notch concert halls, the Jazzcampus boasts its club and two sound-perfect rooms, thanks to custom acoustic designs. Annually, we host over 1,000 concerts, allowing our students to showcase their talent. Each campus is equipped with recording studios and libraries that cater to both quiet study and reading, ensuring that you have all the resources you need to excel.
