St. Charles Hall: The Pinnacle of Wedding Locations in Bern
St. Charles Hall, a historical treasure nestled in the heart of Bern, is a place where timeless elegance and rich heritage unite to create the perfect backdrop for your special day. With a history as illustrious as its stately architecture, this is one of the premium wedding locations in Bern that offers you the opportunity to celebrate your wedding in a setting like no other.
A Storied Past
Originally known as "Villa St. Charles Hall," this estate has witnessed a transformation from its origins in the late 19th century as a retreat for French clergymen. In 1921, it was reinvented by the German-English couple Tonio and Marie-Harriet von Riedemann, who commissioned architect Alber Fröhlich to create the neo-baroque masterpiece that stands today. The villa became a testament to the couple's love for art and antiques, featuring sculptures, tapestries, paintings, and fine furniture.
After the passing of Tonio's wife in 1933, the villa remained vacant for several years. In 1947, it found new owners in the form of Paul and Gertrud Fischbacher-Labhardt, who brought their wealth and a deep appreciation for art. It was their vision that ultimately led to the creation of the "St. Charles Hall Foundation Paul and Gertrud Fischbacher-Labhardt." This foundation was established with the intention of opening the doors of the villa to the public for official receptions, artistic events, exhibitions, and more.
A Venue Fit for Royalty
St. Charles Hall offers a range of grand, prestigious rooms to host every aspect of your wedding, from the ceremony to the reception, all in one captivating location. The villa's exclusive use on your wedding day ensures an intimate and personal experience, making it truly your own.

Situated on the shores of Lake Lucerne, the villa boasts one of the most splendid lake and mountain panoramas in the region. This stunning backdrop sets the stage for truly unforgettable wedding photos that capture the essence of your love story.
A Sanctuary for the Arts
Over the years, St. Charles Hall has hosted some of the world's most renowned artists, musicians, and political figures. Its exceptional acoustics have made it a sought-after venue for classical music, with performances by luminaries like Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir James Galway, Vanessa Mae, and Anne-Sophie Mutter. The villa has also played a role in the world of cinema, having been featured as a location in films such as the series on the life of Richard Wagner.
It has also been graced by the presence of influential figures, including the Dalai Lama, former German Federal President Roman Herzog, Finnish President Mauro Koivisto, and various federal and state councilors.
